I mostly talk about video games and the world wide web

Mike's 25th Birthday, Woo! | by Mike
December 22, 2006 (5:54pm EST)

So I was born on December 24th, which is a rather inconvenient time to be born what with it being Christmas Eve and all that. Thusly you often get overlooked or celebrate stuff early. This is a tale of the latter.

My roommate and best friend dahanese, henceforth known as Elizabeth because that's what I call her, took me out to an awesome dinner at NINJA which is an expensive but awesome restaurant where you are served by real ninjas! Okay maybe they're not real ninjas, but they dress like it and they're pretty good at sneaking up on the table when they take your plates away.

When you get there they stick you in an elevator and then a dude leads you down this dark hallway thing. Along the way he stops and hides in various cubby holes in the walls and ceiling and springs out and makes you crap yourself. This is a very important part of the experience because it ensures your digestive system is cleared and you won't have any problems eating.

After that we sat and ordered. We got some kind of crab/grapefruit thing, some sushi and Korean BBQ for appetizers. They were really fucking good. Holy shit. Next was some fish with lots of stuff on top of it, whih was also really good. Then you get a really big t-bone steak which melts in your mouth and is likewise quite fucking good. After that it's dessert, which you can pick from a couple choices, and of course that's also quite good as is the theme of this place.

Elizabeth also gave me a regular present which you can find in the gallery below of a real spider web encased in glass. It's really fucking cool and nobody has ever gotten me something like that before. It's proudly displayed next to my three tarantulas as a sad reminder of the life they will never have since tarantulas don't spin webs like that (though they do produce silk).

After we finished eating a magician ninja came over to our table and did a bunch of cool card tricks and other sweet slight of hand stuff that was really cool. Capped off an enjoyable evening very nicely.

And hey, here are some pictures! Enjoy!

Here I am... making a weird face as usual.

1704x2272
I swear to god when I smile I look like I'm about 16 :(

2272x1704
Here is Elizabeth who refuses to smile at the camera. I think she's about to jump over the table and eat my liver.

2272x1704
This is the fish! It was really, really good!

2272x1704
T-Bone steak. Also really fucking good. Like, melts in your mouth good. So good.

1704x2272
Here I am eating said steak. The potatoes were also good.

2272x1704
We had wine that was pretty good too. This is a stealth action shot I think. I'm sly like that.

2272x1704
I'm not sure what's going on here. How you doin'?

2272x1704
It was really dark in there. This shot is without a flash.

2272x1704
Ha ha, caught you smiling!

2272x1704
One of the desserts. Some kind of tiramisu. Crazy looking, huh?

2272x1704
Here's Elizabeth's dessert. It, apparently, was awesome, but I didn't try any because I'm retarded or something.

2272x1704
This is the other part of my birthday present! A spider web in glass or something! It's really fucking cool. Less blurry shot to follow.

2272x1704
This is Elizabeth in one of my xmas gifts to her. A cat hoodie! Yes, I said a cat hoodie.

2272x1704
Other side of said hoodie. Awesome.

2272x1704
And here's the spider web in its final home. Next to some real spiders! Woo!
