Caribbean Cruise Recap with Pictures | by Mike

So here are those pictures I promised. It's not all of them, because some just aren't great pictures, and some aren't worth sharing and really it was a lot to fucking upload and if I hadn't taken today off from work I don't know if I ever would have done it. Anyway I split them up into six galleries which you can check out under all this text by clicking the corresponding thumbnail. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to improving the gallery functionality of my blog, but I'm not holding out hope.

I'll try not to be too long-winded about this, but suffice to say I had a lot of fun, even though I got sick around day six or so. Still, I met a lot of awesome people and had a lot of fun drinking and dancing (and normally I never dance; it's a lot easier than you'd think, though I'm sure I still look like a retard when I do it, but with four of five Jack & Cokes in you, you tend not to give a shit).

San Juan was great, though we spent about 90% of our time in Senor Frog's, which is a massive tourist trap bar. Between my cousin, my sister and me, I think we spent well over $150 there. Still, it was a lot of fun. Also I highly recommend getting a yard of Jack & Coke, because it's delicious. 'The Yard' is their famous drink, by the way. It's an almost two foot long plastic cup that you can fill with any drink for $14 or $11 for a refill.

St. Thomas was also nice, as the Virgin Islands tend to be. I went helmet diving with a bunch of my cousins and my uncle which was both awesome and surreal. We were about 15 feet under and saw some cool fish and they passed around some weird animals like this funky shrimp, a sea urchin and some weirdass starfish. After that we pretty much had to go back to the boat, but we did check out the aquarium which was pretty cool. On the ride back to the boat I met some dude named Claude who was pretty cool and we bullshitted about vacations and the current trip and he told me stuff about his son and girlfriend.

Tortola, which is a UK Virgin Island, was very tiny, but very beautiful. Almost everyone in my family went on a dolphin encounter thing, but I opted for a jeep tour of Tortola which did not disappoint. Our guide drove us around and we saw all sort of cool sights and then went to a little secluded beach for about an hour. Very relaxing and overall a great time.

After that was sadness because we had to head home, even though it took two and a half days to do so (plus a few hours while we waited to leave the ship after it docked). We drank and extra amount with all the people we had met over the last week. Many of them were under 21, so those of us who were over 21 wound up with some extra cash in exchange for drinks. Our bartender was awesome and never said a word (probably because he made 15% on every drink we bought) so the fun drinking times were not interrupted. Of course drinking with underage people is always hilarious because they seem so desperate to get drunk as if they will never get the chance again. Ahh youth.

And that's pretty much it. I'm sad that it's over, but at the same time I don't know if I could have taken much more drinking. It's the only time in my life that I drank eight nights in a row and got around four hours of sleep on average every night. I think another few days would have killed me. Also I'm enjoying having to pay off my bill, but I guess that's how it goes. If you ever have the chance to do this sort of thing, you ought to do it. But I suppose that's just logical and obvious. Anyway, here are the pictures if you're still interested:
